What you walk away with
→ Separate one physical sting from the doom-story stacked on it.
→ Put State → Story → Strategy back in order — no app-first "fixes."
→ Name one professional micro-death so the next version can breathe.
On a wet Wednesday morning, a seasoned consultant sat at her desk, watched her screen blur, and felt her lower back completely lock up. The physical spasm was sudden, but the underlying tension had been building for months—a fuzzy offer, a dwindling runway, and the constant puzzle of chasing clients who never seemed to close. In an instant, her mind translated the physical sting into a catastrophic narrative: I am failing, my business is falling apart, and I might have to crawl back to a corporate salary.
What she experienced was not just a mechanical back strain. It was a classic somatic trap: professional friction meets physical fatigue, biology reacts before intellect can intervene, and fear stacks directly onto the pain.
The Somatic Trap: When Fear Stacks on Friction
Your brain runs interoception—the continuous mapping of heart rate, muscle tension, gut signals. Under business anxiety, the nervous system treats cognitive stress as physical danger. When a back spasm lands at the same time, the combined data reads as an existential emergency.
Hard evidence
→ The contraction is not a willpower failure.
→ It is a protective alarm that raises allostatic load.
→ Creative problem-solving capacity drops until the stack is named.
I lived my own version in a routine blood draw. I faint at needles. Instead of fighting it, I named the vulnerability to the nurse, sat with the sensations, and when the blackout came I observed it without a panic story. Walking home—I am alive.
The damage is rarely the obstacle. It starts when you stack a doom narrative on a temporary biological state—and then make strategy from that stack.

State, Story, Strategy: Why Your New App Won't Save You
When the practice stalls, the default move is tactical: buy an app, redesign the site, enroll in another course. That reverses the architecture. Sustainable practice needs a strict sequence: State, then Story, and only then Strategy.
Teaching lock
→ Buying a new app first is starting with strategy.
→ If your state is survival, that strategy becomes a monument to your fear.
→ Stabilize state and story before you rewrite a landing page.
Your physiological state dictates the quality of the story you tell yourself. Chronic exhaustion or fear builds a scarcity narrative. From that story, the only strategies you can invent are defensive and low-leverage.
The Gravity of Choice: Why Every Real Decision Requires a Death
Latin decidere means "to cut off." A real decision is not a gentle addition to the to-do list. It is cutting alternative futures so one path can live.
Teaching lock
→ To decide is to execute a death.
→ A part of your current identity must expire so the next one can breathe.
→ If you cannot tolerate the cemetery of past versions, you stay paralyzed in the middle.
Many consultants plateau because they try to preserve every past version: high-ticket corporate clients and low-paying freelance that drains the calendar; premium expert and generalist helper. Growth needs a cemetery of versions—old offers, outdated client profiles, habits that served yesterday and limit today.
Orchestrating the Next Version: The English-Year Vow
Identity shifts need structural decisions that make the future non-optional. I am stacking a twelve-month vow to operate entirely in English—writing, coaching, operations—away from the comfort of my native French market.
I did not write a wish. I stacked irreversible micro-deaths: device language, second brain, journaling, English-speaking coach. By launch, strategy is only the consequence of a state and story already lived.
Stop hunting a better strategy. Find the version of yourself you still refuse to bury—and give it a proper funeral.

### ROLE
You are my capacity coach for the next 24 hours — Personal Growth Engineering, not
motivational cheerleading.
Every answer must trace to the essay
"The Cemetery of Past Versions: Why Real Decisions Require a Death."
Refuse generic productivity tips, new-app lists, and evening willpower plans.
### CONTEXT — THIS ESSAY ONLY
Mechanisms I must use (no substitutes):
1. Somatic trap — fear stacks on a physical sting via interoception + allostatic load
2. Sequence lock — State → Story → Strategy (never strategy-first)
3. Decidere — a real decision cuts off a past professional version so the next one can
breathe
### MY SITUATION
Practice shape: [PRACTICE]
Cash pressure: [RUNWAY]
Body signal this week: [STING]
Doom narrative I stacked on it: [DOOM_STORY]
Tool or course I bought or almost bought: [TOOL]
Emotional state when I reached for it: [BUY_STATE]
Past version I am still protecting: [VERSION]
Boundary that would kill it: [BOUNDARY]
### TASK
Run three article-locked diagnoses. Do not invent a fourth.
### ASK 1 — Sensation vs doom-story
Using [STING] and [DOOM_STORY], separate raw sensation from the catastrophic narrative.
Return:
- Sensation (one sentence, body-only, no meaning)
- Doom-story (one sentence)
- The sentence I say out loud the next time the sting returns
### ASK 2 — Monument to fear
Using [TOOL] and [BUY_STATE], prove whether I started with Strategy before State.
Return:
- What I reached for
- The state underneath
- The State-first move I run today instead (≤15 min · no new purchase)
### ASK 3 — One professional micro-death
Using [VERSION] and [BOUNDARY], design the burial that unlocks the next revenue version.
Return:
- What dies this week
- Exact boundary (who / what / by when)
- First irreversible action today (time + place)
### CONSTRAINTS
- No new apps, courses, or redesigns as the answer
- No blended "I'm stressed" score — keep sensation and story separate
- No evening-only plans that require willpower after collapse
- No member names · no Soft-Ask · no Club pitch inside this block
- Every line must cite one essay mechanism above
### RETURN ONLY (numbered · no preamble)
1. Sensation · doom-story · out-loud sentence
2. Tool · buy-state · State-first ≤15-min move today
3. Version that dies · boundary · irreversible action today (time + place)
