How to Set Your Mindset to Fulfil Your Vision
The First Step Toward Your Success
There is something called La Fortitude. It is this inner strength that allows you to face challenges with perseverance and determination. It's also about allowing yourself to overcome your own mental barriers to make yourself more robust.
You may have already felt this fire within you. This desire to build a business that suits you, to live a life that makes you love, not just survive. You know that deep down, you want more: more freedom, more pride, more of yourself.
You visualized it, you imagined how to do it, you imagined what you will do once you arrive at this destination that you imagined.
It's Your Vision. But sometimes it gets stuck. Not because you're not capable, but because your mindset may be poorly adjusted.
What if you learned how to configure it so that your vision comes to life?
What is configuring your mindset?
Most of the time, we are given far too much information about the “Mindset”.
How to have a champion Mindset ?
How to have a resilient Mindset?
How to Have a Mindset that is not afraid of anything?
It sounds good, it makes you want to, but it remains on the surface. You are told what to aim for, not how to get there. Where are the steps? The real levers you can move? How do you, in your daily mess, go from “I barely survive” to “I set my own rules”?
Because setting your state of mind is not just about repeating “I think positive” or “I stay focused”. No, it's subtler, deeper, and frankly more intriguing than that.
Yeager and Walton (2011) proved that a 30-minute tweak to your thinking boosts your productivity by 20% and makes you stronger – your brain follows when you take charge.
So, what is it really? Setting your mindset means adjusting your mindset so that it pushes you towards what you want, not pulls you back. In psychology, it comes down to changing your thought patterns, your emotional reactions, and your way of seeing things so that they serve you instead of holding you back.
In two sentences, it's a subtle job, which asks you to delve into your head, see what's wrong, and adjust it so that it serves you. Not to be perfect, but to be comfortable with being you – the real you – and moving towards what you love, what drives you.
But then, why is your Vision struggling to come true?
Perhaps your Vision wants more than “Survive”. Maybe you imagine a business that thrills you, where you help people get better – let's say 5 clients per month who say “thank you, you've changed my life” – and where you still have time for your family, like Fridays off to see your kids laugh.
Or, you have this image of a turnover that climbs to 100k, not to show off, but to prove to yourself that you have your place, and to stop running after every penny. And every time you think about this Vision, it makes you vibrate.
But then, why isn't your Vision coming true the way you want it to?
Here are the two psychological obstacles that can be the reason
You're too addicted to what others think of you
You want everyone to tell you “you're great”. It tugs at your heart, this desire to be validated. You are partly “Addict” to this validation.
Let’s imagine that you presented your idea to this friend, he wasn’t convinced and then you packed everything up. Even though you believed in it completely. For what ? Because you don't feel validated, and it triggers this feeling that it's not for you.
Psychology calls this the need for social approval.
You want to be like others
“You have to follow the mold to succeed. »
“Madame » You launched a service because everyone says "it's the trend, it makes you earn this, you'll have more freedom", but you strive to have fun doing it.
Note this: The structure of the information we focus on determines our quality of life
A 2015 study (Asch revisited) proves that we comply with social norms, even if it goes against what we really want. Your brain likes the security of the herd, but you are not made for that. These rules ruin you, and your Vision – the one that resembles you – fades behind a path that is not yours.
These two walls, they are in your head, not in your life. They make you chase shadows instead of building what you have in your heart.
How to “Parameter” your State of Mind to Accomplish Your Vision?
It is first of all about having the serenity to accept what you cannot change.
You can refine your offer, improve your expertise, transform your business... but you will never be able to control how your loved ones, your customers or those around you will react. Some will support you, others will doubt, and a few will even try to slow you down.
If you waste your energy trying to convince everyone, you lose sight of your own trajectory.
This is where mental configuration comes in: accepting that certain situations are beyond your control... to better concentrate your energy on what depends on you.
Because like me, you live in a world full of information, which leads us to be confused about what we really want. We go in all directions. We want to adopt everything that works. And in the world of Entrepreneurship, it is counterproductive.
To have This State of Mind capable of moving towards Your Vision, you can associate this Vision with Fortitude. Vision and Fortitude are the first steps towards success. Why?
Because the addition of the two represents the alliance between knowing where you are going to go and having the tenacity necessary to overcome obstacles.
Because having a Vision is one thing, making it a reality in the face of difficulties is a whole other challenge.
And difficulties can be these addictions to validation from others, these addictions to wanting to be like others to the point of calling into question YOUR VISION, YOUR AMBITION.
So, you can embody:
The Clarity of your Vision: Make sure that your Vision is as Clear and measurable as possible.
I invite you to have this habit of asking questions about what is not clear to you. To raise your level of consciousness about what you can and what you cannot change so that you can clearly see the resources you have on hand to be able to accomplish this Vision.
A 2010 study (Journal of Positive Psychology) shows that adults with a clear goal have 25% less cortisol (stress) and recover 30% faster after a failure.
Albert Einstein said: The quality of our life depends on the quality of the questions we ask ourselves.
Training with Fortitude: You can totally imagine taking a first step on what scares you. This prospect you thought of calling, This Investment you had to make. The idea is to try to move forward despite fear, despite stress.
Fortitude builds up in this effort, and each step brings you closer to your Vision. You even enjoy it, by repeating this habit.
It’s called: “Micro-adversity” training: it’s the act of voluntarily exposing yourself to small challenges that will trigger adaptation mechanisms. We can also call it: “psychological hormesis” - Epel et al., 2018
In the film “Pursuit of Happiness”, Chris Gardner said to his son when they played basketball: “You can excel in any field, but I refuse to let you throw balls for nothing.”
Your Brain, Your State of Mind can change if you decide to do so. Your Vision, this ambition that pushes you, drives you, makes you vibrate, you will only be able to achieve it if you agree to change what you can change. And that can be the way you see things. These thoughts that tell you that you're not going to make it, you can change them. These voices that whisper to you that you are not up to it, you can change them.
These sad emotions when you hear others tell you that you are not capable, you can change them. Focus on that.
Let yourself live, bring this Vision to life. Embody it, keep it in your sights, and don't give up. Each step brings you closer, each adjustment moves you forward. That's what accomplishing is: not waiting for a miracle, but conditioning your mindset, strengthening your Fortitude so that it takes you where you've always wanted to go.
I'm in the process of developing a program on this conditioning that I called: The Morning Voice. It is a program that will participate in this configuration of your State of Mind.
